Before buying a new energy charging pile, we'd better have an overall concept of the charging pile and know its classification and composition. DC charging pile is composed of four main parts: charging pile, concentrator, battery management system (BMS), and charging management service platform.
What is the composition of DC charging pile?
✔️Charging Piles
There are multiple styles and models of charging piles, which are different in power supply mode and appearance. AC charging piles are suitable for public parking lots such as airports, terminals, stations, commercial buildings or public parking on streets, etc. There are wall-mounted and simple models, which are convenient for layout and scene design and can provide AC power for electric vehicles with on-board chargers.
DC charging piles are larger, generally in the structural form of split chargers, placed in electrical rooms, and DC charging terminals are placed in charging spaces. DC charging piles are suitable for charging stations, switching stations, for whole vehicle charging, bus station parking lots, etc.

The control circuit of the electric vehicle charging pile is operated by embedded ARM processor. The electric vehicle owner is able to self-serve swipe the card, and the balance inquiry and billing inquiry can be carried out through user identification, and the voice output interface can be provided to realize voice interaction. Users can choose 4 charging modes according to the LCD display: including charging by time, charging by power, automatic full charge, charging by mileage, etc.

The main function of the battery management system (BMS) is to monitor the working status of the battery (battery voltage, current and temperature), predict the battery capacity (SOC) of the power battery and the corresponding remaining driving range, and carry out battery management to avoid over-discharge, over-charge, overheating and serious voltage imbalance between single batteries, and maximize the use of battery storage capacity and cycle life.

Charging management service platform can provide three kinds of services: charging management, charging operation and comprehensive inquiry. Charging management provides centralized management of the basic data involved in the system, including: user card information, electric vehicle information, charging pile information, battery information, etc. Charging operation can calculate the cost by user charging and charge the amount deducted from the card through the platform. Among them, customer information and transaction information will be handled confidentially.
What is the difference between DC charging pile and AC charging pile?
✔️AC Charging Post
The input and output of AC charging post are both AC power, and the general interface has 7 wires, and the seven wires are:
- L, N:AC power two wires
- PE: ground, in the charging connection process, first connect the protective ground contact, and finally connect the confirmation contact and the charging connection confirmation head; and in the disconnection process, first disconnect the control confirmation connector and the charging connection confirmation connector, and finally disconnect the ground wire
- CC: Charging connection confirmation
- CP: control confirmation
- NC1, NC2: spare contact
AC charging post is generally smaller than DC charging post because its charging speed is a little slower than DC, that is to say, AC charging post only provides the power output function, but actually has no charging function, when connected with the car above the charger to charge the car. In other words, it needs to charge with the help of vehicle charger, so its power is generally not very large, generally 3.5KW, 7KW, 15KW, etc.

The DC charging post contains 9 contacts, which are as follows:
- DC+, DC-: DC power positive and negative

- S+, S-: CAN communication, non-vehicle charger and electric vehicle communication

DC charging pile has the general specifications of 30KW, 60KW, 80KW, 120KW, 150KW, 180KW, etc. due to the large output power.
